The Brightest Star/Split Second
by Peter Maxwell [Shelby’s uncle]
The call it came, but not believed
It can't be true, we are deceived
This can't be right, it must be wrong
A split second and you were gone.
My heart it hurts, and feels so broke
Fates having a laugh, a cruel sick joke
My head it hurts, and feels such pain
Will my broken heart, ever mend again.
Is fate so cruel, and so unkind?
That we're the ones, left here behind
I stop and think, and all the while
I see your face, your beautiful smile.
The call it came, but not believed
It can't be true, we are deceived
This can't be right, it must be wrong
A split second, and you were gone.
The time will come, to say goodbye
But all I know, will sit and cry
For heaven gained, another star
The brightest one, it's seen so far.
We all will weep, and all will moan
That we're the ones, left here alone
I cannot think, my mind is numb
I cannot speak, I am struck dumb.
The call it came, but not believed
It can't be true, we are deceived
This can't be right, it must be wrong
A split second, and you were gone.
You were too young, or so it seems
To loose your hopes, to loose your dreams
But fate had plans, from a higher power
And stole away, a beautiful flower.
I'm sure we'll laugh, I'm sure we'll cry
I'm sure we'll sit, and question why
But heaven's, gained another star
The brightest one, of all by far.
